How it works

The standard Nigerian sandcrete block has a face dimension of 450mm × 225mm, giving approximately 9.88 blocks per square metre of wall. The calculator multiplies your wall area by this rate and adds your specified waste allowance for breakage and cutting. Mortar is estimated at 0.5 bags per m² for a 1:6 cement:sand mix.

Tips for accurate results

1Always add at least 5% waste for cuts at corners, window and door junctions.

2Deduct the area of all door and window openings from your wall area before calculating.

3For 6-inch (150mm) internal partition blocks, the same 9.88 blocks/m² rate applies.

4Order mortar sand in the same delivery as your blocks to avoid price variation.
